Dubrovnik is a mecca for city photographers, being one of the most beautiful & top tourist destinations in Croatia, the city has an impressive number of historic buildings and is famous for its massive city walls and old town. It is one of my favourite city for photography. This blog will help you find the best photo spots in Dubrovnik. If you are not into photography, you can still admire the views from these locations.

There are a number of awesome locations for Instagrammable pictures and so to explain it better, I want to divide them into three sections:

  1. Dubrovnik City Walls
  2. Old Town Dubrovnik
  3. Other Locations

All the locations are marked on the below map, and if you click on a particular location you will get a preview picture taken from that particular spot and a name for reference.

1. Best Photo Spots on Dubrovnik City Walls

Dubrovnik city walls circling around the old town are impressive and have great views of the old town. The walls are very crowded especially around midday and this is also not a good time for photography. We decided to do the Walls tour late in the afternoon, a couple of hours before the last entrance. It was perfect time with fewer tourists on the walls and great soft sunlight. Here are some of my favourite photography spots on the walls. The walking tour is in the anti-clockwise direction and all the spots are in their respective order.

1. Stradun of Dubrovnik

Right at the start of the walls tour, the first location is the main street or Stradun in the old town. Both the towers are visible from here and also people walking in the street. By using the ND filter, you can lower the shutter speed to blur the movement of people.

3. Dubrovnik Cathedral

From the walls, there are few great locations to take pictures of the Cathedral especially from the wall that runs parallel to the old port and the Cathedral is in front. Follow the google map for exact location.

6. Minceta Tower

It is absolutely worth climbing up the Minceta tower, the views from the top are impressive, to the left is the old town and to the right Lovrijenac Fortress. Minceta Tower is also a location of Game of Thrones.

2. Best Photo Spots in Old Town

7. Stradun (Main Street)

When you enter the old town through Pile Gate, you will see an impressive walking street in front of you. This is the main street in the old town called Stradun. Come here in the afternoon as the lights from the cafes & souvenirs shops add some extra flavour to the pictures.

8. Ul. od Puca

Parallel to the main street is Ul. od Puca street, an impressive rather narrow street with lamp posts hanging outside. This is one of my favourite streets to photograph and the best time is late in the evening or night time

11. Lovrijenac Fortress

The entrance to Lovrijenac Fortress is included in the Walls tour but you don't have to go inside the Fortress. In fact, the best location is near the entrance of the Fortress.

12. The King's Landing

The King's Landing is actually the Dubrovnik West harbour nested in between Lovrijenac Fortress and walls of the old town.

Ul. Bruna Busica street has numerous locations overlooking the old town. There are some rooftop parking where you can set up your camera gear to take some great pictures. Best time to take pictures from here is Sunset, as the sun sets just behind the old town.
