Wadi Mujib and Wadi Numeira canyons are among the world's best canyons and must visit places in Jordan. During our trip to Jordan, we visited both Wadi Mujib and Wadi Numeira and in this blog, you will find all the information you should know before visiting these stunning canyons.

How to Get to Wadi Mujib

Getting to Wadi Mujib without a car is difficult due to no public or tourist bus operating on this route. The only way is to either rent a car or take the bus to Dead sea and then taxi. The entrance to the Wadi Mujib Siq trail is along the Dead sea highway 65 (marked on the google map, see below) which is less than 2 hours of drive from Amman and around 3 hours drive from Aqaba.

Wadi Mujib Opening Hours

The entrance to Wadi Mujib is allowed only between

  • April 01 and October 31
  • 8 am and 3 pm

Wadi Mujib Entrance Fee

The entrance fee is 21 JD per person (approx. 30 USD)

Wadi Mujib Siq Trail

Wadi Mujib Siq trail is probably the most famous hike in Jordan. The trail starts at the visitor's centre and there you can also hire waterproof shoes if you want to for 5 JD (approx. 7 USD). Depending on the season especially late in the season due to rains the water level can be high and the trail might be closed. We visited at the end of October and due to heavy rains and flash floods, the trail was closed. We were very disappointed and after getting further information from the locals we decide to visit the nearby Wadi Numeira.

Wadi Numeira Jordan

Wadi Numeira is another spectacular canyon with fewer tourists and no entrance fee. It also has less water and more family-friendly hike with stunning views. The entrance to the Wadi is a little hard to find as there is no signpost indicating. From the main road 65, a small unpaved path goes to the Wadi. You can drive as far as possible to get near the entrance and park the car there. The whole hike will take less than 2 hours but it also depends on how often you stop to take pictures. We took 3 hours to complete the hike.

The trail is very easy with spectacular views and provides shelter from the heat. The trail is not marked but very easy to follow since there is no other path

We walked all the way until we reached a relatively big waterfall and the path was blocked by huge rocks.

Where to Stay in Wadi Mujib

The best place to stay overnight is at the Mujib chalet near the Wadi Mujib visitor's centre. This is a very popular accommodation choice among visitors so book as far in advance as you can. It is also the perfect location for dead sea and I have written another blog on the best place to take pictures of Dead sea.
